Hi, my name is Jhénelle Elder and I am the Co-founder of IViey Healthcare Ltd. IViey recently hit its six month mark as a full fledged company, and I have been doing some reflecting, grateful for all that this journey has brought. This all started as an independent research project and has grown into a fully incorporated company. There's been a lot of growing pains on my end, but I'm thankful for all the support I've had thus far, and all that I continue to learn along this journey. I'm excited to see IViey grow and truly make finding trusted healthcare practitioners less of a hassle.

My Background

My passion lies within healthcare. I have had a range of experiences in global healthcare systems, from volunteering at the front desk and neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) of a Children's Hospital in Atlanta, GA, to working as an assistant psychologist here in Trinidad, and now in research in the Cancer Registry. My educational background includes BSc Neuroscience and Behavioural Biology from Emory University and MSc Global Health Implementation from the University of St. Andrews.

Healthcare Should Be...

Access to adequate and affordable Healthcare is a fundamental human right. I learned a lot about how different healthcare systems work from living in Trinidad, then in USA and Scotland. There is no perfect system, but from my personal experience and the knowledge I gained in my graduate studies, I learned about the bottlenecks in these healthcare systems that negatively impact persons abilities to receive good healthcare. Ideally, I think healthcare should be accessible, affordable and easy to use. It should also have adequate staff and resources to service the population in need. There is a disconnect between our local health system and technology. From my personal experience in researching, using and working in the private and public healthcare sectors, I've seen lack of effective implementation of technological tools to improve Healthcare accessibility and management. This is where IViey steps in, at least locally in Trinidad and Tobago.

The Future of IViey

My hopes for IViey in the short term is for IViey to continue to grow and gain traction, but ultimately, to achieve the goal of helping improve accessibility to and information about healthcare in Trinidad and Tobago. While in the long term, my hopes for IViey have expanded to include IViey being a game changer in helping practitioners better manage their practice and provide care to the public as well as have IViey expand to other countries in the region.

Also, I can now say without a doubt that I believe in divine timing. When the time is right, everything will work out as it should. Thanks to a conversation I had with my now Co-founder and Product Lead Stefan De Las, this idea became a reality. Through another conversation with Leah Ragbir, Team IViey gained a Marketing and Public Relations Lead. IViey has so much in store to serve both practitioners and the public of Trinidad and Tobago. I'm excited for the launch of our membership plans and features, as the team has put so much work into their development. Once implemented, I'm interested to see how it plays out and receive feedback from our practitioners, so we can make improvements where necessary.
