Hi there, I'm Stefan De Las and I am a co-founder and the Product Lead of IViey. Honestly, I have not had many years experience in healthcare. I got into healthcare through Product and User Experience design. When my co-founder Jhénelle Elder approached me about the idea, it only took a couple of conversations to understand the magnitude of the idea, and what she wanted to do. After months of thought, planning, research, feedback, outreach to others in the healthcare space, and an open mindset to the possible challenges ahead, we started designing and building a platform to enable people like you and me to access accurate practitioner information online.
The attraction was initially about dipping my hand in a new industry, and a complex industry that allowed me to help people where it mattered most. That's why I think design is so important for healthcare, which is often an outdated industry begging for change. IViey ticked that box because it was not following the trend but trying to connect and build an interconnected ecosystem, from the ground up.
I believe healthcare should be accessible to those who need it in an easy and simple way. Nobody wants to struggle or stay in pain while waiting for help. There is no perfect solutions but if we can design a way to enable people to have better and easier access, it helps the overall system. I've learned and am still learning how complex healthcare is. We're not just talking about doctors and patients. We are talking about information, facilities, specialities and the entire ecosystem involved in enabling comprehensive healthcare. What while there are gaps in different healthcare sectors, learning which parts of healthcare to fix is never a one size fits all. It's a continual learning and application process to get to the right solutions.
My hope for IViey is that it helps bring together a fragmented industry. Whether that's helping people make smarter decisions, better choices of practitioners or even helping practitioners better manage their practice so they can spend time serving patients. Our goal was to create an easier and a more collaborative experience for people in need to find and connect with those who are qualified to help. Right now, we're simply working on making sure our initial product ideas turn into something useful for practitioners and patients. From there, we'll continue researching to understand what works and what doesn't for those who it impacts the most.
And here we are... just over 6 months after officially starting IViey, looking ahead to what 2021 will bring as we make incremental steps.
We've also been fortunate to bring on another full-time member, Leah Ragbir, to our team, and she's been instrumental to the past 3 months of our growth and alignment. Thank you to this small and growing team. And thanks to all the practitioners who joined us in the past few months as a new digital startup in a very important space.
I'm humbled, grateful and proud to be able to positively impact Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean.
